  • Dr. Fitzpatrick is a Senior Program Officer for the Cooperative Research Programs at the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Her areas of interest are strategic innovation programming and leadership. She is the Manager for the Transit Innovations Deserving Exploratory Analysis (IDEA) Program, Rail Safety IDEA Program, and National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Project 20-65 serving AASHTO’s Council on Public Transportation. She previously worked on Research, Development, and Technology (RD&T) agenda-setting challenges for federal transportation agencies. Dr. Fitzpatrick holds a BS and MS in Civil Engineering from Prairie View A&M University and Purdue University, respectively. She earned a PhD in Engineering Education from the College of Engineering at Purdue. While attending Purdue, she led initiatives and projects for the Minority Engineering Program (MEP), Women In Engineering Program (WIEP), Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF), and College of Engineering Graduate Programs. She is enjoys developing future scholars and volunteers regularly.
