Railroad Safety & Circuits

Students will understand basic electric circuits and railroad signals vs railroad crossing signals.

Learning Expectations:

Students will understand the basics of a circuit and how circuits are used in railroad safety.

Plan Of Action:

Students will talk about railroad safety and circuits, and do an activity surrounding this.

Data Set Used:

Students will be given rules and supplies for this activity.

Materials Needed:

Materials needed to build a simple electric circuit will be provided:
1. Battery source
2. Wires
3. Open/close switch
4. Lightbulb or signal noise

Preparation Period:

1. Download powerpoint to computer ahead of time and look through material.
2. Have an idea how many members you want in each group.
3. Have supplies ready for groups

Implementation Period:

Lesson will last approximately 45 minutes. Allow 10 minutes for powerpoint and questions, 20 minutes for building, 15 minutes for testing.
