Activities in this Program Include:

Lab Activites
  • Earthquake structural testing with Dr. Christine Wittich
  • Water filtration testing with Dr. Shannon Bartelt-Hunt
  • Materials testing with Dr. Jamilla Teixeira
  • Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with Dr. Gabriel Bruguier
Campus Activities
  • Innovation Studio Activities including screen printing and robotics

Student stay on Campus

Students will be staying at the University Suites, 1780 R St, Lincoln, NE 68508. University Suites offers suite-style housing, lounges, a recreation room, and C-store. Students will be assigned roommates.

The Suites Include
  • Four person suite with extra-long twin beds with extended linen package: sheets, pillow, pillowcase, blanket, towel
  • Bedrooms with desk, chair, dresser, closet
  • Kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, and sink
  • Bathroom with shower, toilet, and double vanity
  • Fully air-conditioned with complimentary Wi-Fi and parking
  • Laundry room on each floor, and convenience store and vending machines
  • TV lounges and game room
  • 24-hour front desk
University Suites

Travel Logistics

Transportation to and from various activity locations will be provided to participants for free. Please allow some flexibility in the pick up and drop off times due to traffic, construction, and delay from previous stops.

Lincoln Residents

Parent/guardians of students living in Lincoln, NE will be responsible for dropping off their student on Sunday, June 23 for the start of the academy, and picking them up at the end of the academy on Thursday, June 27.

Sunday, June 23
Drop off location:
University Suites, University of Nebraska-Lincoln (1780 R St, Lincoln, NE, 68508) at 4:00 PM.

Please escort your student into the University Suites building and check-in at the designated table in the lobby.

Thursday, June 27
Pick up location:
University Suites, University of Nebraska-Lincoln (1780 R St, Lincoln, NE, 68508) at 12:30 PM.

Residents near Lyons, Walthill, and Macy

Students from these locations will be riding on one bus. Parents/guardians of students in these areas are responsible for getting their student to/from one of the three locations below.

Sunday, June 23

Stop 1: Northeast Secondary School (400 S 5th St., Lyons, NE 68038), at 1:30 PM.

Stop 2: Walthill High School (602 Main St., Walthill, NE 68067) at 2:00 PM.

Stop 3: UmoNhoN Nation Public School (470 Main St., Macy, NE 68039) at 2:30 PM.

Thursday, June 27
Students will board the bus at 12:30 PM from the University Suites.

Stop 1: Northeast Secondary School (400 S 5th St., Lyons, NE 68038) at 2:00 PM.

Stop 2: Walthill High School (602 Main St., Walthill, NE 68067) at 2:30 PM.

Students from these locations will be riding on one bus. Parents/guardians of students in these areas are responsible for getting their student to/from one of the three locations below.

Stop 1: Verdigre Public School (201 S 3rd St., Verdigre, NE 68783) at 12:15 PM.

Stop 2: Niobrara Public School (247 NE-12, Niobrara, NE 68760) at 12:45 PM.

Thursday, June 27
Students will board the bus at 12:30 PM from the University Suites.

Stop 1: Verdigre Public School (201 S 3rd St., Verdigre, NE 68783) at 3:45 PM.

Stop 2: Niobrara Public School (247 NE-12, Niobrara, NE 68760) at 4:15 PM.
