The Mid-America Transportation Center’s STEM Academy is a multi-day summer program hosted on the campus of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln for high school students interested in science, technology, engineering, and math. Designed to both expand STEM learning and introduce students to a wide range of education and career pathways after high school, the academy features hands-on experiences led by faculty, students, and professionals from across fields. Participants engage in interactive labs and activities while connecting with guest speakers and professionals who share insights about their academic and professional journeys. 

This program is open to all high school students regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, or tribal affiliation and at no cost to the student. Application to this program does not guarantee enrollment. Applications will be reviewed and applicants will be informed of their acceptance.

Students Stay on Campus

Students will be staying at the University Suites (1780 R Street, Lincoln, NE 68508). University Suites offers a suite-style housing, lounges, a recreation room, and C-store. Students will be assigned roommates.

The Suites Include
  • Four person suite with extra-long twin beds with extended linen package: sheets, blanket, pillow, and towel
  • Bedrooms with desk, chair, dresser, and closet
  • Kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, and sink
  • Bathroom with shower, toilet, and double vanity
  • Fully air-conditioned with complimentary Wi-Fi and parking
  • Laundry room on each floor, and convenience store and vending machines
  • TV lounges and game room
  • 24-hour front desk
